Hello and welcome to the Year 1 web page. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are now ready for a term packed full of fun and learning.
The teachers for this year are Mrs Watts and Mrs Smith and they are supported in the classroom by Mrs Brown (HLTA) and Mrs Said (TA).
School starts at 8:55am and finishes at 3:30pm. Lunch time is from 12 until 1:15. The children have milk and snack during the morning. They can choose from a range of healthy fruit and vegetables. The cost per child per half term is £5.
PE and Games are on Thursday, please ensure your child has a kit in school which includes the following items clearly labelled.
t-shirt, shorts/leggings/tracksuit bottoms/ trainers.
Throughout the year the children will take part in the Forest School programme run by Mrs Karen Brown. Permission letters and information will be sent home. The children will be split into five groups and each group will have five Forest Schools sessions this year. The first group starts on Friday 29th September.
Our topic this term is Land Ahoy and it is all about lighthouses, islands, pirates etc. We will be teaching all the skills through that theme. If you have any good ideas, books, artefacts related to the topic please let us know.

Welcome back everyone, we hope you have had a very happy Easter and feel refreshed and ready to learn.
This week we are looking at repeating patterns in shape and patterns in number. We are also learning 1/4 past and 1/4 to times on analogue clocks. We will be revising +, - and x and division through our CLIC sessions. Our Learn It's this year are doubling numbers to 10+10, halving numbers to half of 20 and number bonds to 10 ( 5+5, 2+8), then to 100 (50+50, 20+80), and then to 20, (15+5, 2+18). We will be revising 2D and 3D shapes, partitioning numbers and writing fact families e.g. 6+4=10, 4+6=10, 10-4=6, 10-6=4.
In humanities we will be learning about islands through the Katie Morag stories and looking at reading and drawing maps. We are also looking at comparing and contrasting areas in our locality and holidays past and present.
10/05/18- Trip to Nash Point Lighthouse
We have lots of trips planned this term. More information will follow regarding these.
