CAROL MEDLEY
Once In Royal David’s City (verses 1 & 2)
Ding Dong Merrily On High (verse 1 & chorus)
While Shepherds Watched (verses 1 & 2)
We Three Kings (verses 1-4 with choruses)
ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY
1 Once in royal David’s city
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her baby
In a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little child.
2 He came down to earth from heaven
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable
And His cradle was a stall.
With the poor and meek and lowly
Lived on earth our Saviour Holy.
DING DONG MERRILY ON HIGH
1 Ding dong! Merrily on high,
In heaven the bells are ringing.
Ding dong! Verily the sky
Is riven with angels singing.
CHORUS Gloria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
Gloria,
Hosanna in excelsis!
WHILE SHEPHERDS WATCHED
1 While shepherds watched their fl ocks by night,
All seated on the ground,
The angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around.
2 ‘Fear not’, said he, for mighty dread
Had seized their troubled mind.
‘Glad tidings of great joy I bring
To you and all mankind.’
WE THREE KINGS
1 We three kings of orient are,
Bearing gifts we travel afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder star.
CHORUS O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to your perfect light!
OPTIONAL SOLO: CASPAR
2 Born a king on Bethlehem’s plain,
Gold I bring to crown him again,
King forever, ceasing never,
Over us all to reign.
CHORUS
OPTIONAL SOLO: MELCHIOR
3 Frankincense to offer have I,
Incense tells of Deity nigh,
Prayer and praising, all are raising,
Worship Him God most high!
CHORUS
OPTIONAL SOLO: BALTHASAR
4 Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes the life of gathering gloom,
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
Sealed in a stone cold tomb.
CHORUS
SILENT NIGHT
FRANZ GRUBER
1 Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin mother and child,
Holy infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
ALL (in German) (Phonetic translation)
2 Stille nacht, heilige nacht, Shtiller nacht, hi-ligger nacht,
Alles schläft, einsam wacht. Alees shleft, einsam vacht.
Nur das traute hochheilige paar, Noor das trauter hoch-hiligger paar,
Holder knabe, im lockigen haar, Holder knaber im lockigen haar,
Schlaf in himmlischer ruh, Shlaf in himlisher roo,
Schlaf in himmlischer ruh. Shlaf in himlisher roo.
TIME FOR CELEBRATION
EVERYONE: Merry Christmas everyone!
OPTIONAL SOLO
CHORUS Time for celebration,
Every land and nation,
Join your hands in peace and harmony,
Young and old!
There is love and joy
For the baby boy,
Born of Mary in a stable
Long, long ago.
Angels and shepherds, three wise men,
Saw the star over Bethlehem.
Worshipped the baby born to be King,
So now his praises we can sing!
CHORUS Time for celebration,
Every land and nation,
Join your hands in peace and harmony,
Young and old!
There is love and joy
For the baby boy,
Born of Mary in a stable
Long, long ago.
Born of Mary long, long time ago,
Long ago,
Long ago,
Long ago.

Our first school trip of Year 3 will take place next Friday 23rd September to Techniquest in Cardiff Bay. Sorry for the short notice but that was the only availability Techniquest had.
We will be watching a show about The Human Body, which links to our Cornerstones Topic 'Blood, Bones and Gory Bits.
The cost of the trip is £1.60, to cover the cost of the coach:-)
Thank you in advance for your support:-)

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Hello and welcome to Year 3! :-)
The children have settled into the new routine brilliantly this week and have been busy learning already!
In Maths, the times tables we will be focusing on are the 3's, 4's and 9's. A fantastic game to play to help them learn their tables is on the'Top Marks' website called 'Hit the Button'. You can play the game online or you can download the app if your household has an ipad.
Our new Cornerstones topic is 'Blood, Bones and Gory Bits', looking at our bodies, the organs and all the different bones we have inside. Some children have already brought in relevant books and skeletons for our topic, which is great to see:-)
Our P.E and Games sessions are every Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning so please can you ensure your child has their kit in school with all items labelled with their name.
Please can you also ensure all school uniform is labelled with their name also as we have had items gone missing already and it's only the first week!
Our spelling test will be every Monday morning, along with handwriting and I will upload the new spellings onto our School website weekly (in case spellings sheets get lost!)
Thank you all for your support:-)
Kind Regards,
Miss Kent and Mr Newbury

We had such a brilliant day out at Cog Moors yesterday! Pond dipping was great fun and we even found a newt and 16 different types of bugs in the pond. In the afternoon, we split into groups and did orienteering, which got everyone hot and sweaty but it was good fun! The children were really well behaved and we learnt a LOT! Plus, it was sunny so we were extra lucky:-)
