heartHAPPY HEART'S WEEKheart

This week is Happy Heart's week.   You received a letter explaining the lesson's for this week from your child's class teacher.

Welcome back to our final half term   This is always a busy half term with sport's day and transition of classes.   We have STEAM week too.  Lots to look forward to!

FOREST SCHOOLSForestSchool-Logo2.png

The final 15 children from 3B will be  attending Forest Schools every Monday morning.   They know who they are.  They will attend for three sessions before another 3K children will attend for their final sessions for this year.   By the end of the academic year all children from Year 3 will have been able to attend Forest Schools.

Forest Schools is a wonderful experience as you will know from previous years.   Children from year 3 have already attended in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, so are experienced and able to move onto more challenging experiences.   Miss Wright  will lead the sessions for Year 3B with Mrs B and another adult supporting.   Miss Smith will lead 3K's sessions with Miss Kent and another adult supporting.

Magasine/Newspaper ideas.

These are some of the newspapers and magasines that are available for children that you might find useful to order or subscribe to.   They are full of interesting facts either news based or animal/science based.

I have included the links below for you to see for yourselves.

RM Easimaths

All children have been asked if they require their RM Easimaths Log on details, those that have asked have been given their details.   We have lists of all children's details and should you need them please come and ask.

This is the link you require

https://www.rmeasimaths.com/Easimaths/Account/Login

It should offer you 'roath' in the @ section, if it does not then please add it.

You will need to add your child's name usually in the format of their surname and then initial

ie 'BurnettS', the password is a colour and a number with NO spaces.

Spellings will be tested on a Monday morning and new spellings will be given out.  See below for weekly spelling lists.

PE

Games will be on a Monday afternoon and PE on a Thursday afternoon.

All children will require kit for these days.

Kit needs to be a change of clothes, with shorts, track-suit bottoms or leggings, a t-shirt and if required a sweatshirt or hoodie for the cold weather.   Please ensure trainers have a good grip as sometimes the yard can be damp and can be slippery.

Homework

Each week the children will be given spellings to learn, we suggest some time each day learning them rather than a blitz the day before.   We expect the children to read each evening with an adult, we can provide guidance on this if required.

We will be asking the children to learn different times tables this year, so any practice with these will be great.   It is a good year for children to start to learn to tell the time.  It is better to learn both styles of clock, analogue and digital.   Children will learn this better if they are practicing at home as well.

On occasion the children will be given additional homework to support in a specific area, should we fell it is required.

Please remember to use RM Easimaths, we will give the children password reminders should they require them.

We are going to be introducing a reading online program soon, more details to follow.

Maths

We will be looking at money worded problems and the four calculations this week.   We will work on fractions and decimals. We will complete our learn its and CLIC tests.

English

We will complete handwriting and spelling this week, but most work will be based on Happy Heat's Week.

Geography Skills.

We are currently working on a poster/book promoting Wales to tourists.   We are completing research and learning about parts of Wales that are new to us. (This is an ongoing project that all children will complete, but it is running over several weeks, whilst different groups of children are attending Forest Farm.)   We will be using co-ordinates, learnt in maths, to work out locations on maps.

Science

Science this term is linked closely with our topic work.   We are learning about different habitats, along with the life cycles of animals in those habitats.   We will learn about the plants in those habitats and the root systems of different plants.   We will be learning about pollution and the effect it has on our seas and our freshwater sources.   We will also learn about the seasons and how these water sources change from one season to the next.

Topic see notes above.

Art/DT/Music

We will be sketching, drawing and painting this term using nature around us as our stimulus.

We will be listening to and appreciating different styles of music and we will be creating small compositions.

ICT

The children will be using hwb J2Write to create a multi media page advertising our products.   We will creating databases and then using them to find out information.

Welsh

'At the weekend' 'Ar y Penwythnos' is our new Welsh topic.   We will discussing what we do at the weekends and what we want to do.

Games/PE

We will be learning a range of team games involving bats and balls.   We will be working on our team skills.

Spellings  These will be tested on Monday 18th June
